Students who successfully complete a certificate or degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences Cytogenetics are eligible to take the national certification examinations given by the National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA). Awarding of the degree or certificate is not contingent on passing an external certification or licensing examination.

Licensure is currently required in approximately 12 states (California, Tennessee, Florida, etc.). Applicants who might consider relocating outside Texas should investigate requirements in that state.
