MASTER OF DEAF EDUCATION AND HEARING SCIENCE
- A completed baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution in elementary, special or deaf education, deaf studies, communication disorders, nursing, or a related field. Students without a degree in education are required to take the Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA) and complete 50 hours of classroom observation and 25 hours of field experience with children under the age of 10.
- Students with a degree in education are required to submit a copy of their state certification
- Overall GPA of 3.0 or better
- Evidence of having taken the GRE
- Three letters of reference (one required from a faculty member in your undergraduate major). If it has been more than 5 years since you attended college, you may substitute a recommendation from your current employer. References must be sent directly by the person providing the recommendation.
