Scholarships Available to Deaf Education and Hearing Science Students

Sunshine Cottage School Scholarship (Competitive Scholarship)

Purpose – To provide competitive graduate scholarships in deaf education to students enrolled in the teacher training program associated with Sunshine Cottage School for Deaf Children

Eligibility - Full-time or part-time enrollment in the Master of Deaf Education and Hearing Science degree program; good academic standing, e.g., no disciplinary actions; financial need, as determined by the UTHSCSA Office of Financial Aid

Selection Criteria – May include: grade point average (incoming undergraduate G.P.A or UTHSCSA graduate G.P.A in Deaf Education and Hearing Science); financial need; educational potential; promised commitment to teach in an oral deaf education setting for at least one year in the state of Texas following graduation; special circumstances as determined by the Deaf Education and Hearing Science Scholarship Committee

Application – Submit the following to the program director:  scholarship application, one-page typed essay, two letters of recommendation, statement promising to teach in an oral deaf education setting for at least one year following graduation

Deadline – Contact Deaf Education and Hearing Science Program Director

Awards in 2005-2006 - $11,350


John H. White, Sr. Memorial Scholarship (Competitive Scholarship)
