Early Acceptance

Partnerships

The School of Health Professions has early acceptance agreements with three universities:  St. Mary’s University, in San Antonio, The University of Texas at Brownsville, and Texas A&M University International, in Laredo.  The agreements enable students at these three universities to apply for select School of Health Professions programs at the end of their freshman year and be offered conditional admission.  If all requirements and prerequisites are fulfilled, the student is guaranteed admission. To obtain further information about early acceptance, contact the School of Health Professions Welcome Center.

St. Mary’s University – Students may apply for early acceptance to the following programs:  Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care, Master of Occupational Therapy, Doctor of Physical Therapy (anticipated start date fall 2008), and Master of Physician Assistant Studies.

The University of Texas at Brownsville – Students may apply for early acceptance to the following programs:  Master of Occupational Therapy, Doctor of Physical Therapy (anticipated start date fall 2008), and Master of Physician Assistant Studies.  Students offered early acceptance enroll in a “fast-track” curriculum to complete program requirements at the end of their junior year at The University of Texas at Brownsville (UTB).  Early acceptance students who matriculate in a School of Health Professions program are granted a Bachelor of Science in Biology degree from UTB at the end of their first year at the UT Health Science Center.  These students may also be eligible for a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Sciences from the UT Health Science Center.

Texas A&M University International – At this time, an early acceptance agreement has been established only for the Master of Physician Assistant Studies.
